The Farm Gate

Welcome to our virtual farm gate. We hope from here to be able to offer a much wider variety in the future, but for now we just want to let you know that we are selling farm fresh eggs and freshly cut Asparagus from our real farm gate.

We hope to have quail eggs & goose eggs available soon. We can also provide fertile eggs suitable for hatching.

All our livestock live the best lives we can provide. They are given high quality food and our chickens, ducks and geese are allowed to range free around our homestead.

We are working on expanding our population, but for the moment we still have a relatively small flock, so to make sure we can meet your needs we recommend sending a quick email to let us know how many eggs you want and when you will want to collect them. At this time we require cash payment.

There are regulations under the Livestock and Livestock Products Act that set the standards for sales, grading, monitoring, packaging and disposition of fresh and processed eggs for human consumption, which require that all eggs retailed beyond the farm gate be graded.

I sought advice on how this affected us and was advised that a person may purchase ungraded eggs directly from the farm where the eggs were produced, as long as they are for their own consumption. Which means that we can sell eggs, so long as the consumer comes to our farm to purchase them. We are not allowed to sell to restaurants or retail stores or unlicenced dealers.
