Better late than never

Tuesday we were working hard at getting some of the yarn I have spun, washed and wound into balls. And then I planned on showing you the results.


Tour de Fleece completed

The Tour de Fleece has finished, and while there is still roving in my basket I would say it was a resounding success. I spun at least a little bit most every day.


Two wheels are better than one!

Now while I still love Louie my upright Louet spinning wheel, when I came across an Ashford traditional wheel on UsedOttawa for a very reasonable price I couldn’t help myself, I have always loved the look of the traditional wheels.


Tour de Fleece

Tour de Fleece

Just in time to make a last minute dash for the start line I heard about the Tour de Fleece. The goal is to spin every day the Tour rides, and as I have been sadly neglecting my wheel in the last couple of months I thought this would be a good way to get me motivated.

Saturday Cheryl and I spent the day at the third of our planned spinning classes ‘gaining control’! Steve had a very busy day at home, but I will tell you all about that tomorrow.


Fibre arts

There has been a lot of fibre arts going on around here lately and boy am I having fun! Thanks need to go to Cheryl who suggested learning to spin! Spinning class not only resulted in us learning to spin, but also in new friends, me starting to learn to knit and weave, and to the possibility of the sheep earning their keep.

I spent almost the whole day today away from the farm, leaving Steve to take care of the chores and woodpile all by himself. It wasn’t a ‘jolly’ though, no, I was off to learn a new and practical skill!
