A chapter ends …

June 30th, 2010 by Heidi

It may seem crazy to have moved three times in the space of four years, but each move was a necessary step to lead us to where we are, and while I wish we hadn’t spent quite so much in Realtor fees, I cannot regret the outcome.

Cuckoo’s nest road!

June 20th, 2010 by Heidi

It was quite the weekend and right now our house looks rather like a furniture shop exploded and was then attacked by a giant shedding ball of fur! But luckily for us we have friends. The weekend was supposed to be all about moving furniture, Steve hired a U-Haul truck, found some volunteers and set about moving all the remaining large things from old house to new.

Our old house!
I would like to share the most wonderful news with you … our old house is SOLD!

I don’t think that even in our wildest imaginings we thought it would happen so quickly, but it is such a relief. We had the offer last week, which of course was followed by some negotiations, but we wanted to wait until today when all conditions were met and it was official before we said anything.

Tomorrow I will worry about planning moving the rest of our large furniture, lawn tractor etc, today I am just too excited to concentrate!

The new Ruis Dair Homestead

April 25th, 2010 by Heidi

Well we did it! We have moved. Friday was an exceptionally long day but with help from my Dad, Cheryl and Danielle’s truck, we got all of the animals moved and settled in. Steve and I didn’t get to bed till 4am!

Happy Earth Day!

April 22nd, 2010 by Heidi

Things are a little hectic around here, as we frantically try to get packed and organised. Today we went to the lawyer and got all the paperwork signed! I am trying to convince the sheep that Earth day would be a most appropriate day to have lambs! Plus I am terrified of the idea of transporting them when they are so close! Wish us luck!

Coming or going?

April 19th, 2010 by Heidi

Wow, where did the weekend go? Seriously we move house on Friday, this Friday and yet it doesn’t seem like five minutes since we decided to start considering the possibility! I must admit I am feeling a little stunned. Trying to get everything packed, everything organized, and get my work hours done, while running to the barn every half hour to check on sheep has me wondering if I am coming or going!

Happy Anniversary!

April 12th, 2010 by Heidi

Saturday was our sixth wedding anniversary, the traditional gift for sixth is Candy or Iron, the modern gift is Wood. We celebrated by buying a house – well in fact it is a 200 year old log cabin so I figure that counts as wood, and Linda found an old horseshoe when we did the inspections, which I reckon counts as iron!

Home inspections

April 7th, 2010 by Steve and Heidi

Today we were in Perth for the home and septic tank inspections on the new house. I am sorry to say that although I did have my camera with me I didn’t come home with anything but some fuzzy shots of fly catchers and an osprey.

A very long day!

March 26th, 2010 by Heidi

We had a second viewing of the cottage last Saturday, the current owners met us there and walked us around the property. It is the most beautiful countryside, I wish I had taken more and better photos to share with you; but I was too busy imagining walking with the dogs, watching the sheep and considering all the perfect picnicking spots. For me the land is so beautiful I wouldn’t care if the house was a shack!

On the move – Again!

March 25th, 2010 by Heidi

This is going to sound crazy, but we are, hopefully, on the move again. Yes I realize this will be the third time in four years, but we have thought long and hard about it and come to the conclusion that it is the best option available to us.
