It’s Raining Cats

March 22nd, 2009 by Heidi

There has been a lot going on with the felines around here, and as I started writing this I realised that I hadn’t kept you posted on our barn cat visitors, so I should probably start there, before I introduce the new arrivals!

Giant leaps in George’s Place

March 2nd, 2009 by Heidi

This will be a very short post, and sadly lacking pictures, as I need to shut off my computer and relax for a bit before bed, but I really wanted to share with you the giant leaps in progress made in George’s Place today.

Cats from the barn

February 26th, 2009 by Heidi

As you may have read last Saturday we went out to a barn with Cat Rescue Network and came home with six cats! The two kittens were only making a pit stop and were collected on Sunday to move on to their ‘real’ foster home. I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures of them, so I am hoping their fosterer will take pity on me!

Cats & barns

February 23rd, 2009 by Steve

Sadly this story starts with the passing of  an 82 year old farmer, who had amassed an unknown number of “barn” cats. Cat Rescue Network had gotten wind that these cats were to be eliminated “as pests”, and had managed gain a “stay of execution” at least until all of the other farm animals had been found homes. The farmer who has been feeding the animals allowed Cat Rescue Network and a few other groups to provide food & water to the cats and to arrange for some to be caught and hopefully re homed. (more…)

You remember James and who could forget MJ!

Of course you remember James, well he scored big with his new family, and now has a whole website devoted to him rather than just the odd mention!

News from George’s Place

In all the excitement this week I forgot to post that on Saturday Jazz and Tango found a new home!

Dog-gone it – Again!

January 29th, 2009 by Heidi

James is leaving us again! Tuesday Steve was on the late shift which allowed us all to go for another “last ‘family’ walk”! Unfortunately James was even less cooperative with the camera than last time! Don’t worry though, we still have MJ to keep everyone on their toes!

One night only!

January 17th, 2009 by Heidi

Thursday evening Maggie moved on to her another foster home. She was just making a short stop here. But we were at 1 foster dog for one night only! As James came back to us on Friday, sadly it didn’t work out with his new family.

A quail in the hand ….

January 12th, 2009 by Heidi

We had quite a busy Sunday, we began the research for what will hopefully be our next big exciting venture on the homestead, with a visit to another farm and a long chat with some very nice and helpful people! We also may, we hope, have found a new ‘partner’ for another smaller, but no less exciting venture. I am afraid though that in the interests of not ‘jinxing’ anything – thats all I am prepared to say! You will just have to keep checking in to see what we are up to!

Dog-gone it!

Over Christmas we had rather a house full, as we added an extra two foster dogs – Beaker & Kramer –

George’s Place

December 21st, 2008 by Heidi

We have a large basement room that was partially finished that is about 25ftx9ft, originally I had suggested to Steve that we could turn it into an English pub, with a bar and a dart board. Then we lost George. We both needed to do something and then it struck me that the room would be far more useful as a space for foster cats. As George came from a rescue it seemed to us that this would also be a rather fitting tribute to him.

Amazing progress

December 2nd, 2008 by Heidi

Over the weekend we made huge progress with Chloe (I have just been calling him Chappie) and Alfie. By the time we left their room Saturday evening we had not only gotten pills into both of them but both were all of the sudden singing, happy cuddle kittens. Since then all though every time we go in Alfie still heads under the bed and Chappie swears at us; soon enough Alfie comes out and goes back to playing and Chappie comes over to have treats and more importantly a fuss.
