Rooster Cogburn returns!

November 13th, 2010 by Heidi

If you have stopped by before you may know that we lost both our buff Chantecler roosters early in the summer. While we have been expanding into other breeds of chicken, we do still want to be able to raise pure buff Chanteclers so have been on the lookout for a ‘replacement’.

Chicken addiction!

November 9th, 2010 by Heidi

OK, so maybe I am developing a chicken addiction! But I was on Kijiji – yes I know, but it was Donna’s fault, she told me there was an ad for a Chantecler Rooster so I went and looked …. and well …..

Chicken addition

September 21st, 2010 by Heidi

Sunday saw us visiting a chicken sale and adding a few more chickens. The plan is to try different breeds and different crosses to find our perfect meat bird.

Very sad news

March 6th, 2009 by Heidi

We have just candled the rest of the eggs and there is no life.

The second of the two hatchlings is still with us, we have some doubts about his health but we have no past experience to judge him against.

Right now I am thinking I should have waited till my little bantam went broody.
