Grouse and berries

July 8th, 2010 by Heidi

Doesn’t that sound good! And the berries were, but the grouse was only to be captured with a camera. We both needed a break so decided to blow out the cobwebs with a nice bicycle ride around the block – the block is about 8 miles but is pretty much square and so I think counts as a ‘block’!

Minty fresh!

Buying before selling meant that we were able to move house in batches, unfortunately bad planning left my herb garden all alone at the old house, and if being deserted wasn’t bad enough, the poor abandoned things were outdoors with the weather ranging from 20°C to snowing to 29°C all in the space of a week!

A weekend’s work

August 16th, 2009 by Heidi

It has been a very busy but rather productive weekend. Although yesterday we did take the afternoon off and enjoyed a very impressive BBQ with my cousins. A room with a view

So this afternoon while I was busy re-potting tomatoes and starting herbs, Mother Nature was kindly drying my laundry, even better while I was folding it this evening she provided entertainment!

…. and the sun came out ….

Today was one of those frustrating days, the weather has been nasty, we have been under big dark clouds with crazy strong winds and rain, I have so much to do in the garden and couldn’t be out there doing it! I have been under some emotional black clouds recently as well, which is why it has been so quiet here, and being frustrated by the weather is really not a helpful addition to my mix of emotions.

Bird brain!

I think I have mentioned a few times my opinion on the intelligence, or lack thereof, of Starlings and how I feel about their annoying habit of flying down our chimney and getting stuck in our fireplace. Well today I discovered they have a rival in the stoopidty stakes when it comes to choosing a nest location ……

One of my favourite blogs to read is hmsindefatigable.blogspot.com and a while ago they mentioned Project Feeder Watch, now they may have been suggesting it as part of a homeschooling project, but for me it is an excuse to do what I am going to do anyway!
