Willow’s Paws & Claws Rescue Inaugural Event

March 29th, 2009 by Heidi

Thank you to everyone who came out (or bought raffle tickets) and supported Willow’s Paws & Claws Rescue at our inaugural event last night. We shared home-made, home-grown asparagus soup, hot chocolate and smores with 18 people, and raised over $170.

Considering we only decided to hold this event a few weeks ago and had done minimal advertising we are really pleased with our beginning.

What a weekend

My heart hurts

December 17th, 2008 by Heidi

On the day that saw me scanning the news looking to find out if justice would be done for the dogs that suffered at the hands of Carol LaPalme (www.spcamontreal.com) instead I found myself watching a video from the Humane Society on the latest bust that happened just this week:

And reading about the 200+ souls who having been rescued, and looking forward to a brighter future after suffering who knows what at the hands of people, perished in a tragic fire at a Humane Society shelter in Oshawa (www.cbc.ca).

I am not ashamed to admit that there have been tears today; but when I think about the puppy mills I am rather ashamed to belong to a species that can choose to cause such suffering.
