Today we decided to go for a little expotition as there were a couple of events happening practically on our door step that would count as research at the same time as being fun!

Last weekend was our friend Bill’s annual “Willow Garden Shetlands – Sheep Shearing, Lamb Romp, Open House & 4 H Barbeque” and fortunately we were able to justify the day off to go and see how more experienced shepherds do it!
We had big plans for this weekend just past; a while back I happened upon information that there are free nature program’s being run in Gatineau Park and I just loved the sound of ‘Animal Tracking on Snowshoes’. I have been wanting to explore Gatineau park for a while but we never seem to find time, so I had a day’s expotition all planned out, including being booked on Saturday’s snowshoe adventure.
As always the weekend was full, Saturday was busy in a different kind of way though as we spent it at the World Animal Day Celebration & Animal Blessing. It was held at Andrew Haydon Park on the Ottawa river, which is a really beautiful place that we hadn’t visited before.
When we lived in England we used to like to go to country and craft fairs when we could, and it was at one of these that we first encountered The Sheep Show. Now this was before we had any real interest in sheep, but still it was one of the most entertaining and memorable things we ever came across.
As you may have guessed from the silence on here we have been on holiday. I had a plan to write and schedule some posts before we went away but sadly things rather got away from me. For those of you who don’t ‘know’ us, we have just had a rather self-indulgent trip back to England for my little brother’s wedding.
We have been all over the place in the last few days exploring and playing tourist. We have toured the Parliament buildings, cruised the river, searched for basking turtles, relaxed on the beach, mooched around Merickville, and eaten lots of very good food.
We are having a sort of holiday so you will have to bear with me if posts get a little few and far between. Yesterday we collected Steve’s mum, sister and brother-in-law from the airport – and they brought me proper chocolate!
Today we treated ourselves to a whole day off! Can you believe it? What did we do? Rest, sleep, relax?
I have had a couple of days off! My Dad came for a short visit and we spent a lovely couple of days checking out the countryside on bike and foot.
