A new job!

March 8th, 2010 by Heidi

I have re-joined the ranks of the properly employed! That is I am employed by someone else, and it is perfect. It is a work-from-home part-time web development job. So I can do what I enjoy and earn some extra pennies, without having to worry about travel, or leaving the sheep or dogs home alone all day.

Home-made, home-grown, home-baked

March 2nd, 2010 by Heidi

After my rather unsuccessful last attempt at baking bread I kept meaning to get back and have another try but there never seems to be enough hours in the day.

With a little help from my friends

February 28th, 2010 by Heidi

It has been a good week, I am having better days and I have hope. It is nearly Spring, we know this because our birds are telling us. The other day we had 7 chicken eggs and on different days found three duck eggs!

An apple a day!

February 23rd, 2010 by Heidi

In the fall we bought quite a few pounds of apples from a local orchard, and what is really fabulous is that we are still enjoying them. I had no idea that things likes apples, potatoes, onions and squash could be kept for so long, fresh.

Time off!

February 21st, 2010 by Heidi

This week has been nice as Steve has had a few days off to help me get myself back together. It has really helped to have him here, especially with the dogs, and we have had a lot of fun running around the field with the dogs.

While watching the Olympics …

February 14th, 2010 by Heidi

I thought I should distract myself from the Olympic coverage to post an update. It has been quite a week with kittens, coffee, court, doctors, barrels, ice carving, snow sculptures, an owl, Olympics & Olympic knitting! Some of them will require a post all of their own, which will be coming up in the next week, but for now here is a quick taster.

Apple Cauliflower Soup

February 9th, 2010 by Heidi

We did manage to pop to the shops on the weekend, we had to, we needed cat food. While we were there we of course checked the reduced shelves, and found a couple of cauliflowers, one regular one orange. Which was fortunate in more than one way as it turns out that little Miss Lynn is rather fond of cauliflower leaves!

Not a super week!

February 7th, 2010 by Heidi

I have been rather under par this week which has meant not many things being checked off on the task list. I have a hard time giving myself time off, as if I am sitting still then I am generally worrying about what I should be doing, and feeling guilty about it. This week has been a prime example of that – I haven’t given myself a proper day off but also haven’t really managed to achieve anything!

Cottage Pie

February 2nd, 2010 by Heidi

We wanted to make a shepherd’s pie but the lamb that went into our freezer wasn’t very big so we don’t have a great deal of meat, and not really any that we would want to grind into mince. But we do still have a fair bit of the grass fed beef we bought last year, so we decided to compromise and have cottage pie.

Where did it go?

January 31st, 2010 by Heidi

Where did January go? I am really not sure how it is already the last day in January. Now don’t get me wrong, the closer we get to Spring the more excited I get thinking about the lambs and my vegetable garden. But with the speed at which this month passed I am not going to be ready!
