The butcher shop has been having trouble sourcing lamb, and it has been growing in popularity. So we decided to try a different approach!

Butcher's sheep!

They are Rideau Arcott and Ille De France crosses, and are surprisingly tame. They have been raised naturally, and fed primarily organic feed. They will continue to live on pasture at our farm for a little while, having the best life we can give them.

Although they are quite a bit bigger than my little sheep, they are still pretty cute, and they do like to have a little head scritch! They are also cheeky enough to go looking in pockets for treats, or just try chewing on the pocket!

I love to know what you think so please rate my post or leave me a comment. If you really liked this post maybe you would consider sharing it. Thank you.

  1. And just what are their coats like? Good for sheepskins/or spinning fibre?

    Pretty cute otherwise :)

  2. If the shop is going to start finishing it’s own lambs, I have some to sell! :-) . BFL crosses.
