Puppy day!

This morning we took all eight puppies into for their first vet visit. They were all very brave and passed with flying colours. As they were 8 weeks old on Monday they are ready to move on to new homes.

I think I have mentioned before that without a routine I tend to get a little lost and confused, and that is what has been happening to the blog of late. Since Steve’s big changes, which I promise he will write about soon, our routine has been all over the place.

Sunday saw us visiting a chicken sale and adding a few more chickens. The plan is to try different breeds and different crosses to find our perfect meat bird.

Grand Opening Celebrations

Tomorrow is the Grand Opening of the Manotick Village Butcher and we are all super excited about it. We will start the celebrations off at 11am with a fabulous cake and naturally the good eats will continue all afternoon with free samples prepared by local celebrity Steph the Grilling Gourmet, who will have pork, beef, chicken, lamb, wild boar and venison on the grill.

Little Donkey

When I was little my favourite Christmas carol was Little Donkey, in hindsight this should probably have been a clue! :) But there were also practical reasons for our latest additions.


I have a polar bear!

A number of years ago my mum and sister visited New York and went to Central Park zoo, where they met Gus the polar bear. Mum brought me back a small cuddly polar bear called Gus. Since then all polar bears have been called Gus.
