As I might have mentioned before I love fruit trees and for my birthday Steve got me a lovely Meyer lemon tree from the Green Barn Nursery. Well yesterday we went on an adventure to Montreal and returned with amongst other things 6 fruit trees!

Last year we couldn’t think of anything suitably practical but present-y for our birthdays so we decided to ‘bank’ them as presents ‘owed’ until we found something. We also like to buy each other trees for our anniversary and as we were moving at the time this was also on hold. So with that in mind and the money I had from my birthday this year we planned our visit to the Green Barn Nursery.

WOW! It is even better in real life than on the website. The people are so nice, friendly, helpful, experienced, sharing … I could go on. We were there for an hour and a half! If you have a chance I would highly recommend a visit.

We came home with a pink lemon, a pomegranate, a Meiwa kumquat, a Mount Royal blue plum, a Morello cherry and a jasmine plum which is a rare, evergreen plant with beautiful white “jasmine” flowers, and large red plums with a delicious strawberry-like flavour.

We also tried heartnuts, which are a variety of walnut that are tasty, hardy and quick growing! We are excited about these and are planning on putting in quite a few of these in the not too distant future.

I love to know what you think so please rate my post or leave me a comment. If you really liked this post maybe you would consider sharing it. Thank you.
