A chapter ends …

It may seem crazy to have moved three times in the space of four years, but each move was a necessary step to lead us to where we are, and while I wish we hadn’t spent quite so much in Realtor fees, I cannot regret the outcome.

When we moved to Canada our needs and wants were very different. We were very different. The first house we bought was way more than we needed, but we were so overwhelmed by the amount of space we could have, and the swimming pool, that we didn’t stop to really think about whether we needed it.

We moved on from there, we only spent one day viewing properties to find our big old farmhouse, and it was perfect. It still is my ‘dream home’ in so many ways. It is such a beautiful old place, with such character, and so reminiscent of my childhood family home, that I can’t help but love it. But it was missing the most important thing – my family.

The driveway

I don’t regret our move there, it was necessary, it led us to this lifestyle, to our sheep, to Elizabeth and so to spinning, weaving and my job. It has taken us in a direction we never expected but wouldn’t want to change. But chapters must end so new ones can begin and yesterday we handed over the keys having walked together down the beautiful tree-lined driveway for the last time.

I won’t say I won’t ever move again as I said that last time, and when you taunt the universe like that it feels the need to slap you upside the head! :) I thought I would be sadder saying goodbye to the old place, but already it doesn’t feel like ours. The new place in all its crowded clutter is so much more fitting for us – or at least it will be if we can ever get the rest of the bedroom furniture upstairs!

I love to know what you think so please rate my post or leave me a comment. If you really liked this post maybe you would consider sharing it. Thank you.

  1. It just proves the old adage that “home is where the heart is”.
