With a little help from my friends

February 28th, 2010 by Heidi

It has been a good week, I am having better days and I have hope. It is nearly Spring, we know this because our birds are telling us. The other day we had 7 chicken eggs and on different days found three duck eggs!

Adventures of an Aardvark

On the weeks when there is a Bloggography challenge I like to try and combine the theme for You Capture with the Bloggography subject. This week that gave me Shapes and Aperture.

An apple a day!

February 23rd, 2010 by Heidi

In the fall we bought quite a few pounds of apples from a local orchard, and what is really fabulous is that we are still enjoying them. I had no idea that things likes apples, potatoes, onions and squash could be kept for so long, fresh.

Shetland fleeces for sale

February 22nd, 2010 by Heidi

Living on a single salary has really taken some getting used to and I don’t know I can say for certain that we really have yet. We are still sure of our decision for me to stay home and mind the farm, but we really need to get the farm to start contributing to rather than draining finances.

Time off!

February 21st, 2010 by Heidi

This week has been nice as Steve has had a few days off to help me get myself back together. It has really helped to have him here, especially with the dogs, and we have had a lot of fun running around the field with the dogs.

Coffee & Chaff!

February 19th, 2010 by Heidi

A little while back I came across this article from Mother Earth News about using coffee chaff as litter for chicken coops, and I loved the idea. It is a form of upcycling, and even better tends to be free!

Dog Racing!

February 18th, 2010 by Heidi

This week’s You Capture theme is kisses and I must admit I was thinking I was going to be missing a challenge.

My first award!

February 17th, 2010 by Heidi

Today I got my first blogging award. This may seem silly to some, but I put a lot of work into my blog, and Flicker’s Lair as a whole, and it is really gratifying to know that there are people ‘out there’ who are reading and enjoying my efforts.

Applesauce Granola

February 16th, 2010 by Heidi

Since we first discovered homemade granola it has become a fixed part of our routine, every Sunday we make up a new batch to get us through the week.

Knitting Olympics!

February 15th, 2010 by Heidi

Having learnt the basics of knitting it was about time that I started a ‘for real’ project, but I just couldn’t decide what I wanted to make. Limited time, inspiration and funds left me not managing to start anything.

While watching the Olympics …

February 14th, 2010 by Heidi

I thought I should distract myself from the Olympic coverage to post an update. It has been quite a week with kittens, coffee, court, doctors, barrels, ice carving, snow sculptures, an owl, Olympics & Olympic knitting! Some of them will require a post all of their own, which will be coming up in the next week, but for now here is a quick taster.

This week’s You Capture theme was ‘Work’, and to be honest it has had me somewhat stumped. I am not really sure what counts as ‘work’ anymore.
