It struck me that it might be a good idea to have a weekly round up post on a Sunday, some days there are simply too many things to write about, and sometimes the things I want to share don’t need a post all to themselves. These things aren’t less important than the normal posts, in fact some of todays is more important than the ‘regular scheduled programming’, it’s just that during the week I have a task list I work to even if sometimes the world rearranges my plans!
Flicker’s Lair BlogArchive for January, 2010Sunday roundupJanuary 17th, 2010 by HeidiLocally RaisedJanuary 15th, 2010 by SteveWe like our food and prefer to know where it comes from. Ever since we started watching Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage series we try to grow and raise as much of our own food as possible. Winter WonderlandJanuary 14th, 2010 by HeidiThis weeks You Capture is ‘Your Winter’. We have been under a blanket of snow for a while now, and aren’t expecting to see the grass for a good while yet. Willow needs you!January 13th, 2010 by HeidiYou may have noticed that it has been a long time since I have written a post about any foster cats or dogs, it isn’t that we have stopped fostering, we currently have 7 cats and 1 dog for Cat Rescue Network and a cat for Bullies in Need staying here. No I didn’t mis-type we really are fostering a cat for a dog rescue and a dog for a cat rescue! Something new for dinnerJanuary 12th, 2010 by SteveToday we tried something new for dinner – Poached eggs in Marinara sauce. Fibre artsJanuary 11th, 2010 by HeidiThere has been a lot of fibre arts going on around here lately and boy am I having fun! Thanks need to go to Cheryl who suggested learning to spin! Spinning class not only resulted in us learning to spin, but also in new friends, me starting to learn to knit and weave, and to the possibility of the sheep earning their keep. I love purple!January 10th, 2010 by HeidiI am getting a little out of order. I really should be telling you about the time spent over the holiday season with my new friend and fibre-arts mentor Elizabeth, during which she has taught me how to wash fleeces and how to use a drum carder to turn my fleeces into roving ready for spinning. But I spent a good part of yesterday with her and the latest fun thing she has taught me I just can’t wait to share! Everything but the Oink!January 8th, 2010 by HeidiI think I have mentioned River Cottage and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall a couple of times before, but I don’t think I ever properly introduced them (for those on this side of the ocean that are unlikely to have heard of them), and now seems rather timely, and a rather good lead in to the real subject today – Pork! A year of photosJanuary 7th, 2010 by HeidiThis weeks You Capture is ‘your YEAR in review’. I reviewed 2009 in words on New Years Eve, but the alternative post I had had in mind was sharing my favourite photos of 2009, so I figure that kind of fits as a review doesn’t it? New Shoes!January 6th, 2010 by HeidiFor those who know me, would you really ever have expected me to be writing a blog post about shoes? For those that don’t know me the pertinent information is that I am and always have been fashion challenged, well to be fair it isn’t so much that I am challenged as that I just don’t care! The truly important thing though is that I HATE shoe shopping. Back to workJanuary 4th, 2010 by HeidiFirst things first Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a lovely holiday season and are refreshed and ready to face the new year. We have had a nice break and are ready to face 2010. |
