I spent almost the whole day today away from the farm, leaving Steve to take care of the chores and woodpile all by himself. It wasn’t a ‘jolly’ though, no, I was off to learn a new and practical skill!
Flicker’s Lair BlogArchive for November, 2009Learning to spin!November 14th, 2009 by HeidiMince pie preparationNovember 13th, 2009 by HeidiI always find myself in November panicking about making the fruit mince for the Christmas staple – mince pies. Perhaps because now I try not to think about Christmas too much at all. My real life!November 12th, 2009 by HeidiThe theme of this weeks You Capture is ‘Your Real Life’. So here is a little taste of my reality … Tree felling or not!November 11th, 2009 by SteveWe have a beautiful tree lined driveway, but in amongst them we have a dead tree that last winter had dropped one of its branches. Pondering parsnipsNovember 10th, 2009 by HeidiThis weekend saw the final harvest from our summer garden, the parsnips. We had planted parsnips last year but they hadn’t been terribly successful; although as we found some roots when digging this year that rather resemble parsnips and are in the right area, we think that perhaps we accidentally ‘weeded’ last years crop! New chicken accomodationsNovember 9th, 2009 by HeidiYou might say that we are bad losers, but we have had enough of being outsmarted by our chickens in the daily game of egg hide’n'seek. Wordless Wednesday – From the galleryNovember 4th, 2009 by HeidiClick on any image to bigify! Captivating carrotsNovember 3rd, 2009 by HeidiI realize that traditionally the orange vegetable you are supposed to work with on Halloween is pumpkin, but as we had picked up a huge bag of carrots for a very reasonable price I figured it was a fair substitution and so spent a good part of my Halloween in the kitchen creating with carrots. Sad little ram lambs & a lone gooseNovember 2nd, 2009 by HeidiIt has been a busy weekend of chores and working on our new chicken accommodation project (I will tell you all about that soon) and today was no different. Steve was working from home so we were able to have early start and get some finishing touches made to the new chicken house before ‘work’ started. |
