As always the weekend was full, Saturday was busy in a different kind of way though as we spent it at the World Animal Day Celebration & Animal Blessing. It was held at Andrew Haydon Park on the Ottawa river, which is a really beautiful place that we hadn’t visited before.
The weather although starting off a little threatening turned out lovely. We had to leave Winnie at home as there wasn’t room in the car and she tends to get rather over excited and bark at everyone all the time! Of course Charlie came with us, he is so well behaved and is an excellent salesman! He is so adorable that people just have to come and say hello to him and he greets everyone – human or canine – with perfect manners.
Fortunately the event wasn’t too busy so I was able to have a little wander time with my camera. Time spent in places like this is good for the soul.
Sadly the grey looking start to the day and not so perfect forecast turned a lot of people off, and many simply didn’t turn up. Still it was a great day, it’s great to see rescues all working together to get the word out. The organizers did an amazing job and are hoping to make it an annual two-day festival.
