“What can you play?
I play the piano”
I used to play when I was younger but when I moved out of my parents home I lost access to a piano, and as with so many childhood things it got left behind. But never forgotten.
A while back I spotted a piano being given away on UsedOttawa. I missed out but it had me thinking, so I kept an eye on UsedOttawa. Before we went away there were a couple, one was going to be very complicated to move and would really need professional piano movers, which meant money we didn’t have to spend. The other I received an email about while we were away to say that they had a list and I was on it. So while at Mum’s, just in case, I collected my old music book.
We got back to learn that I was at the top of the list, and Friday evening with ‘a little help from our friends’ we collected a beautiful new-to-me piano.
I am so grateful to the generous people who gave me the piano, it would not have been something that I could have justified spending money on, but I am so pleased to be able to play again. I am also exceedingly grateful to the friends who made it possible to get the piano here. We couldn’t have done it without you.
I have spent some time playing and haven’t forgotten everything, but I need a lot of practice to make up for all the years!

Hi Heidi
Good for you. I play too!! Self taught and getting better by the day.
Hope you are enjoying your new piano – Christmas is coming so get those carols playing.
