When we lived in England we used to like to go to country and craft fairs when we could, and it was at one of these that we first encountered The Sheep Show. Now this was before we had any real interest in sheep, but still it was one of the most entertaining and memorable things we ever came across.

So imagine how pleased we were to discover that The Sheep Show was going to be at Thame Show which we already planned on attending.

The Sheep Show

They describe the show as edu-tainment, and it really is. You get to learn about the different breeds, the history of sheep, and about how wool gets from the sheeps back to a woolly jumper. There is even a shearing demonstration.

Then the sheep dance! If you have never seen dancing sheep then you really don’t know what you are missing. I really wish I could have videoed it to share with you, but my batteries were acting up and really I was laughing to hard to have been able to do anything more than a shaky mess.

So instead I went searching on YouTube and found these:

At the end we stopped to ask the guy if they have ever used Shetlands in their show, and he said “Oh NO, they are far too feisty! We wouldn’t be able to keep them contained!” We know the feeling!

Anyway you should check out the website – and if you happen to be in England and get the chance you really should check out The Sheep Show, it is great fun.

I love to know what you think so please rate my post or leave me a comment. If you really liked this post maybe you would consider sharing it. Thank you.

  1. Good times! And I guess that explains a lot about your sheep! Cute and a handful!
