A whole day off!

Today we treated ourselves to a whole day off! Can you believe it? What did we do? Rest, sleep, relax?

No of course not! We got up early, drove 2 1/2 hours to Montreal to my Dad’s house, then cycled down to the canal for hotdogs, something Dad and I used to do every summer and I have been wanting to do for a while.

Our Bikes

Passenger Sparrows!

Steve joked, “is that why you were going so slow, you had passengers!?!?!” Isn’t he just a riot!

We cycled around Parc Rene Levesque where there are lots of different sculptures. This disadvantage of cycling is that you don’t get as many opportunities for snapping pictures, but a couple of times I just had to call us all to a stop and send Steve to pose!

Surprise! Dad found a bug!

Then we cycled the other way, all the way down town to the Hard Rock Cafe; they had sent me a voucher which was only valid until the end of this month and I really wanted to use it – so I now have a lovely new hoodie.

We figured we were in need of some culture, that and we had 20 minutes to kill till the pub opened so we checked out the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

We did actually go inside and ended up spending a lot longer than 20 minutes.

We then refuelled in a little brewpub Dad knew of, which did very good beer, cider and food! What more can you ask for? A quick – 40 minute – cycle and we were back at Dad’s and ready to head home. But I felt I really ought to hold still and have a picture taken in my new Hard Rock hoodie.

Sorry you can’t really make out how cute my top is, that will have to be a post for another day!

All in all a very good day!

  2. What a dee-lightful sounding day! Thanks for sharing it with us. We haven’t even had our bikes out this year :o ( . . . but you may have just given me the impetus to do just that! :o )

  3. Looks like you all had a blast! Love the sculptures. Sounds like you really earned those hotdogs and beer! And what luck that you had decent weather… that’s hard to come by this year…
