Zeus has been banished

Today was a beautiful day, and I happened to have my little point and shoot camera in my pocket when I walked the dogs ….

My big Zeus moose before …….

Our House

The rest of the dogs went back indoors and Aspen and I went to visit Willow. I tried using the video function on my little camera and I have a cute video of Aspen and Willow, I just have to figure out how to share it here!

The barn; sheep, chickens, ducks enjoying the sunshine

Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine! Although sticking close to the barn where the snow is already packed down.

Our Maremma sheepdogs - Aspen & Willow - livestock guardians

I think I mentioned the other day – Willow thinks Aspen is the best thing since liver treats!

Then later we went for our second walk of the day.

Aspen - the begining of the end

This was Aspen warning me ……

Zeus & a skunk!

These pictures are of Zeus chasing a skunk! Fortunately the other three dogs were leashed so didn’t get the option to go ‘help’ – no matter how much they wanted to.

Zeus & a skunk!

I stood and shouted myself hoarse while he ignored me, and chased the skunk, was chased by the skunk, chased the skunk, and was chased by the skunk …. you get the picture!

I had to give up and take the other dogs back to the house, who were not impressed or cooperating, and go back for Zeus. NOT a happy bunny. By the time I got back to the top of the drive he had obviously lost the skunk and figured he maybe ought to come back. He came trotting down the road to me all ‘how clever am I’, but as he got closer realised he might have blown it and the tail went down!

I still had to close up the barn and brought in the eggs collected and one rolled off the table while I was taking my coat off! So I gave up and went to sit in George’s place – for my afternoon hour of cat socializing.

Steve came home to a Heidi still a little ways past furious, and a Zeus tied up outside! Zeus is spending the night in the barn and will stay there until we can figure out how we can get him clean without giving him pneumonia!

I love to know what you think so please rate my post or leave me a comment. If you really liked this post maybe you would consider sharing it. Thank you.

  1. I’ve been out sick all week… I came on here for the first time in awhile and read this story— I’m really sorry that it happened— but it gave me a really good chuckle!!! :)

It’s okay to be furious… but read over what you wrote… it’s a little bit funny.

  2. Sorry you’ve been feeling poorly. Glad I was able to give you a chuckle – I must admit that was my intent. But I think it will still be a while before I am less furious with Zeus – at least not until he doesn’t stink!

  3. When driving down the drive way last night I knew I could smell skunk! I just couldn’t tell where it was coming from. I also wondered why one of the dogs was outside when I left the barn but would not come and see me.

He stinks – bath time for Zeus!
