What a great day! Last year a friend told us about this book fair that is held by a church, and we went along to discover a huge selection with books for $1 and $2! I came away with a bag full of books for $20!
Well it is this weekend! I have been looking forward to it for months now, and went to sleep last night feeling like it was Christmas Eve (yes, I know I am a geek and no, I’m not sorry)! It started this evening at 6pm, we had planned to be there when the doors opened, but our daytime plans ran a little long – but I will tell you about that in a minute.
I came home with 21 books! Guess how much we spent …… $39! That’s right only $39! Amongst the 21 books are ……
And a book called Sugar Bush Connection, which is all about cooking with Maple – “Make it with Maple …. sap, syrup & sugar ~ Nature’s sweetest mystery”. I will let you know when I have tried some of the recipes.
Our daytime plans were almost as exciting, we had an audit. How can an audit be exciting? Well because it was a Home Energy Audit. The auditor showed us a few simple things we can do to make our home more energy efficient, and will be sending us a report of all the major recommendations. I will leave it to Steve to share about the practical stuff, I don’t think he was really convinced about the whole idea and was surprised by the results.
The auditor left us an interesting looking information pack, I just didn’t get a chance to check it all out as we were rushing out to the book fair, but I will be sure to share some tips once I do.
So why the “Reduce – Reuse – Recycle” title? Well the energy audit will help us reduce and I am sure buying second hand books must count as either reusing or recycling!
