After the escape of the cross goose we decided that we would keep them in the barn for a few days to let them get settled and used to us. This morning I went out to the barn and found the door open, and no geese!

I grabbed a tub of corn and started looking. My friends Emily and Mike turned up and helped me look. Emily spotted movement and we found the 3 Toulouse at the end of the field, I hopped the fence and herded them back. They are actually easier to herd than the sheep!

I then spotted a white head at the other end of the property and while I got the Toulouse sorted, Emily and Mike herded the Emden back towards the barn field. But there was only one.

I don’t know what happened with the door; Steve is sure he closed it. But I think Willow may have had something to do with it, and I am sure she chased them off, she looked really pleased with herself. So she spent the day safely contained so the geese could settle. Without her alarming them they were quite happy to stay within the field. I am hoping that the other Emden will hear / see them and return to the flock. Maybe he / she will bring the missing cross back too!

So I spent much of the afternoon out-standing in my field :D keeping an eye on the geese and of course taking advantage of the time to take photos.
